As a Media Breakaway family, we always make an effort to support our employees on their volunteer and service goals. One of our designers, Joey Kemp, has a sister, Claire, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome when she was born. Each year she has a team that walks in the Mile High Down Syndrome Association’s Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk. This year, the walk will take place on September 25th, and the money donated will be used to fund educational programs and other resources to help assure inclusion and enhance independence of people with Down syndrome.
For the past five years, Media Breakaway has made contributions to Claire’s team, Claire’s Bears, in a variety of ways. This year, we brought back one of our previous fundraisers, the Claire’s Bears Coin Drive and Pie Contest and had seven employees volunteer to participate in the contest.
Bobby D’Onofrio – Systems Administrator
Dani Hayes – Human Resources Manager
Jaclyn Charles – Marketing Manager
Joey Kemp – Sr. Web/Graphic Designer
Kacy Manning, Manager of The Parking Place
Karen Vidick – Director of Accounting
Scott Woodruff – Production Associate
Throughout this past week, each participant had a bottle in our lunch room, and employees were encouraged to donate loose change or cash if they wish. Silver change and bills counted as positive points, while pennies subtracted points from a person’s total. Wednesday morning after the final count, we had three winners who received a pie in the face. They were Bobby D’Onofrio, Kacy Manning, and Joey Kemp (pictured with Claire).
As a company, we were able to raise a total of $566.42 to donate to Claire’s team for the walk. If you would like to see video and more photos of the event, be sure to visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/affiliatecomnetwork
