Media Breakaway Tennis Tournament Update
As we continue to bring you latest coverage of the 3rd Annual Media Breakaway Tennis Tournament, we have some breaking news to report. Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen circumstance, Tracey Pollard has been forced to drop out of the Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament as Steve Richter’s partner. While everyone at Media Breakaway is disappointed to hear that they will not get to witness the skills Pollard has been developing over the past 6 months, they are excited for another newcomer to enter the tournament. Jazette Pester has been recruited from the ranks to join Richter as his new teammate for the Mixed Doubles Tournament.
“While it’s going to be quite the challenge to bring myself up to speed with all these other phenomenal players, I look forward to the test and plan on Steve and I beating every single other team in the tournament” said Pester. “Okay, maybe Steve will single-handedly beat everyone we play, but at least I’ll look good standing next to him while he does it.”
In other news, five of the eight Men’s First Round Tournament matches have been played, with no surprising results. Steve Richter, Chris Cantzler, Scott Richter, Antonio Vitale and Brian Chase have all advanced to the 2nd round, most with solid scores of 6-0, 6-0. While all these players were expected to move on, both Scott Woodruff and Joey Kemp put up decent fights against Brian Chase and Scott Richter respectively. Woodruff came away with one game while Kemp broke away with two games against Richter.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure the only reason I scored as much as I did was because Scott was training for me for the secret consolation bracket” said Kemp. “Oh, whoops, did I say secret consolation bracket?”
That is correct – The Men’s Single Elimination Tournament is adding a bonus consolation bracket into the mix, with the exact details still being worked out. With player changes and new tournaments being added, you never know what is going to happen next in the Media Breakaway Tennis Tournament.
