Off-Season Training

It has been several months since Team Chaos last took to the softball diamond and even longer since the team hit the ice to win their 3rd consecutive championship. While it would be easy to continue their dominance in these sports, the team has been considering a wide variety of new challenges over the past few months. At this point, no final decisions have been made on the many suggestions that have been proposed to management, which have included competitive eating, chessboxing, rhythmic gymnastics, soap box derby racing, and kickball, just to name a few.
While team management considers all of the options, the players have been focused on keeping themselves busy and in shape during the long off-season. Team Chaos has built a reputation for devising cutting-edge training programs and this year continues that trend. Utilizing a new self-directed training philosophy, each player was asked to develop their own personalized training program for the off-season. Not surprisingly, there has been some incredible variation between different players’ programs.
“I spend about 6 hours a day playing tennis,” said Joe Lochi. “Well…technically it’s Wii™ Tennis, but the workout is incredible. I’m also thinking about getting the Wii™ Fit, to really take my conditioning to the next level.” While Lochi has built his program on state-of-the-art video gaming technology, other players have gone for a more old-school approach.
“I put together a fitness routine that uses tried and true equipment I found in my garage, including a Thighmaster, an Ab Lounger, and a set of Doorknob Pilates Bands” said Steve Kilberg. “I am also going to be incorporating an 8-Minute Abs video into the mix, as soon as I can track down a VCR that plays Beta video tapes.”
Jenny Frederick has been working out with her own personal trainer in hopes of getting a Team Chaos kickball team put together next spring. “My workout was designed specifically to optimize my performance on the kickball field,” said Frederick. “It involves hours of simulated kicking, base-running, and bench sitting…mostly bench sitting, since in a real game you actually spend most of your time waiting for your turn to kick. I feel like I’m in the best kickball shape of my career.”
With each member of Team Chaos showing this kind of dedication to their off-season conditioning, there is no doubt everyone will be ready for whatever sport the team decides to take on next!
