Team Chaos Puts One in the Win Column

With last week’s rain out, Team Chaos has had 14 days to think about their first loss and was chomping at the bit for two weeks to get back on the field and put a mark in the win column.
“We made sure to take advantage of the extra week to put in a lot of extra practice on some key skills,” said Co-manager Jaclyn Charles. “I feel confident that every player now knows how to properly eat sunflower seeds, give high-fives to each other, and heckle the other team by cheering ‘hey batterbatterbatterbatterbatter swing!’”
Taking advantage of a shorthanded Team Chaos that was still shaking off the rust from a two week layoff, the undefeated Blue Bombers jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Despite the quick deficit, the team’s inner resolve never wavered and they came back with their own offensive onslaught.
As the game reached the final inning, the teams were deadlocked at 13-13. Despite the ominous score, the umpire decided that the teams should play on into extra innings. As the team prepared to take their turn at bat and break the tie, outfielder Joe Lochi called the players together for a quick meeting.
“I know you guys are all hungry,” said Lochi. “Hungry for a win. Hungry for a chance to get our record to .500. Hungry to make a statement to the league about what Team Chaos stands for. Hungry for a cheeseburger. I know I would like a cheeseburger right now. Who’s with me? Who wants a cheeseburger?”
Lochi’s inspirational words truly put a charge into the team. When it became apparent that there were in fact no cheeseburgers in the dugout, the players turned their frustration on the Blue Bombers, putting five runs on the board to start the inning.
Obviously dazed by the Chaos onslaught, the Bombers fizzled out in their half of the inning, with three easy outs to end the game. The Chaos and their fans stormed the field in celebration of the 18-13 victory!
Following the game, Chris Cantzler, Joe Lochi, and Brian Chase were named players of the game for their incredible offensive and defensive heroics, which included an incredible running, juggling catch by Lochi.
Next week the team takes on Ben Franklin Elec. as they look to extend their one-game winning streak. The Chaos face many questions heading into next week’s game. Will there be enough players to field a full team? What exactly does Elec. stand for? Will there be cheeseburgers in the dugout?
