Team Chaos Takes a Bite Out of the Sharks
Riding the wave of last week’s thrilling victory Team Chaos took the ice last night against an up and coming Sharks team. The Chaos took an early lead and held on until the Sharks were able to tie it up at 3-3 in the third period. With the game on the line, the team came through with a late offensive surge, scoring three unanswered goals to set the hook and reel in the Sharks. The victory puts the Chaos at 2-0 to start the season on their road to the Three-peat.
Before the game began, Head Coach George Avery gave the team the news that star player Lou Difulvio would be unavailable for the game. While the team was initially concerned that this might shift the balance of the game to the Sharks, Avery looked to the stands in hopes of finding a Team Chaos fan who could throw on a jersey and help the team. After scanning the crowd, he came down to a decision between two fans. While he was initially leaning toward super-fan Jenny Frederick, Avery used a coin flip to select Joey Kemp instead. This turned out to be one of the best decisions of the night as Kemp took Difulvio’s spot on the ice and proceeded to score three goals, for the team’s second hat-trick in as many games.
In addition to Kemp’s scoring barrage, the team received goals from Scott Richter, Rusty “Nails” Powers, and Steve Kilberg. Absent from this list was forward Jon “Ringo” Ringhofer. Ringo had several solid scoring opportunities, but the Sharks goalie made save after save to keep the Chaos rookie from notching his first goal of the season.
After the game, Team Chaos fans were jubilant, although one pointed out a major drawback of the early season success. “All of these hat-tricks are really putting a strain on my collection of headwear,” said Brandon Perry, Affiliate Manger and Team Chaos supporter. “If this continues, I may literally run out of hats.”
Next week your Team Chaos goes up against the red hot Fire Puckers, in what promises to be a game for the ages. Be sure to check out www.HockeySkate.net every week for game updates and the Player of the Week award!
