This Game was No Turkey!

Last night, Team Chaos put their 4 game winning streak on the line against their bitter rivals – the Sharks. The team has been playing tremendous hockey over the past few weeks and they came into the game looking to build on that momentum.

The standing room only crowd was in a celebratory mood, as the first 1,000 fans through the gates each received a thanksgiving turkey. Although, many fans seemed a bit confused when they were actually given live birds rather than frozen turkeys. The game was delayed twice, as several rambunctious turkeys made a break for freedom by heading out onto the ice. Based on the various unforeseen issues with the turkey giveaway, stadium spokesmen said they were rethinking some aspects of their Easter Bunny giveaway scheduled for next spring.

The games started with the Chaos began putting on another clinic in offensive execution. They jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but the Sharks bit back to tie up the game 2-2. In typical Chaos fashion, the team reacted by reeling off 9 straight goals to put the game out of reach. A meaningless late goal by the Sharks put the final score at 11-3, as the Chaos notched another dominating victory.

Once again, the offensive surge was a total team effort as Scott Richter and Joey Kemp each notched 3 goals, Rusty “Nails” Powers added 2, and Jon “Ringo” Ringhofer, Tony Bebber, Joe Lochi each put 1 goal on the board. All-Star Goalie Pat Avery again played his usual stellar game in the net, clamping down on the Sharks after their first two goals. (Pat was playing on short rest, as he had been called up to the big leagues for a game earlier in the week.)

Not surprisingly, many people seemed to have the upcoming Thanksgiving break on their minds during the postgame press conference.

“This team is hungry and definitely on a roll,” said Head Coach George Avery. “I was very pleased with the way our skaters carved up the Sharks’ defense, utilizing our new wishbone offense, and stuffing 11 goals into the net. At the same time, Pat was gobbling up every shot that came his way. While the most important thing is the win, scoring so many goals is just gravy.”

The team heads into the holiday break red hot. But, can they maintain their momentum after the layoff? Stay tuned to www.HockeySkate.net and your weekly Affiliate Newsletter the rest of the season to find out!
