Tough Act to Follow

The US Open came to a close over the weekend with several incredible storylines.  Now the question is – can the 1st Annual Media Breakaway Tennis Tournament Finals take the drama to yet another level?

Player tirades, tears of joy, between the legs shots, players coming out of retirement to reach the finals, yes the Media Breakaway Tournament has had all of these storylines.  (Apparently, the US Open also provided similar, albeit less dramatic stories.)

“Yeah, I suppose it is a nice storyline to the mother of an 18-month old baby come out of retirement and win the women’s title at the US Open,” said sportscaster John McEnroe.  “But seriously, how many times have we seen that same story?  What I’m really looking forward to is that match between Steve Richter and Doug Davis this week.  Now that match has drama.”

“As I was watching Serena Williams implode on the court after a questionable foot fault, I couldn’t help looking ahead to that match between Kacy Manning and Remijia Santopietro on Thursday,” said tennis commentator Mary Carillo.  “The way both these ladies steamrolled through their early round matches was simply amazing.  It is really unfortunate that the US Open overlapped with this great new tournament.  I think that 50 years from now we will be talking about the Media Breakaway Tennis Tournament the same way we discuss Wimbledon.  The competition has been that good.”

Not surprisingly, the excitement around the Media Breakaway offices has reached a fever pitch this week, with the finals just a day away.  Team members have designed t-shirts, banners, and pennants to support their favorite players in the tournament.

“I am just such a huge Kacy Manning fan,” said Jaclyn Charles.  “I can’t believe that she actually sits less than 50 feet away from me every day!  I’m still working up the nerve to ask for her autograph.”

The final matches are just one day away!  Be sure to check out your affiliate newsletter later this week for complete finals coverage.
